First Monday Morning of 2010

The holidays are over and it's Monday morning - life that is!

It's the first Monday morning of the new year so what are you going to do in this new year?

Get healthier right? For many of us becoming healthier means making better food choices, exercising more, and the big one losing weight.

I saw the TV show The Doctors this morning and they talked about the resolutions they made last year and how they did achieving them. They did great, good and not so good, but the bottom line said was - it's a new year and you can start off again.

So share what you want to do for the new year here on Monday Morning Life.

I'll start with my new year resolution(s) -

1. I'm staying the course of my quest to be healthy by continuing to eat healthier, exercising and the big one for me is losing weight. I'm generally good on exercising, I slip often on eating healthier (ate Popeye's chicken nuggets and red beans and rice like it was some crack (LOL) often during the holidays).

I've got a big event in August to attend so August will be one of the check in dates. We have a fitness walk at my church April 17th so that will be another check in date. So I have check ins at 3 months and 8 months from now.

2. Get the "clutter" out of my house - bottom line!

It's all about community so share your goals for 2010 and check in often so we can support each other. To comment on a post you can be a member, but you don't have to be one. You can just -

Scroll to the bottom of the post you want to comment on and click on "comments"
Then a box will pop up with "Leave your comment"
Type in your comment
Then type in the word verification
Then under the "Choose an identity" section choose your identity
If you already have Google account you can log in as you do to that account, or
You can choose "Name/URL" - type in your name - first, first and last or any name you choose. You do not have to type in a URL just your name. I think the the Name/URL option is the best option to choose.
You can also choose "Anonymous" - unless you are just saying something way out there and you don't want anyone to know who you are, then I say why choose this option.

Listening to all the morning news shows, talk shows, etc., most said write it down and broadcast my plans to all which enhances accountability to the 10th power. So here goes...
1) Quit smoking - I will ATTEMPT to quit smoking by first utilizing Chantix. I plan to fill the prescription this week.
2) Stay healthy - exercise, exercise, exercise. Last year I started moving and lowered my cholesterol 20 points! I also kept my blood pressure and sugar levels in check (blood pressure & heart disease runs in my family - diabetes doesn't but good to know it's in check).
3) Try my damndest to eat right MOST of the time.
4) Get storage facility emptied for goodness sake! Extra $ in pocket.
Today took down Christmas decorations (the little I had) and ran some errans. Going to be 28 degrees tonight. Call me crazy but I love a cold winter!

Hi!
I've started my new healthy lifestyle, too. It's so hard being back in Louisiana. I think it's finally old to me now and I don't salivate at a link of boudin anymore. Got to lose the 15 pounds I put on since the move. I'm looking at it gone by March. I joined the rec center at LSU-no excuse to not exercise. Let's support each other!

Okay, I'm reading old posts-what are "baseline days" and "carb down" days?

Hi Susan,

I am with you! I was listening to Joy Behar and Dr. Oz this morning and heard a few interesting facts that I want to pass on. Dr. Oz advocates losing waist..meaning that your waist should be no more than half your height to insure good health. For instance, I am 5"4" tall, my waist should be no more than 32 inches. In order to have a healthy year Dr. Oz recommended that we 1) stretch every morning 2) eat breakfast, never be hungry and plan to be 5 minutes early for appointments...Just some tidbits for thought.

Talk with soon and remember a new habit takes at least 2 weeks to incorporate..patience!!

For some reason, my comments are not showing up...
Now I'm ready to go to sleep, so I will attempt to post tomorrow!

Just wanted you to know, that I'm with you on cleaning up my act and get busy accomplishing what I must do to stop the clutter, in my home and my body!
